LASG PLEDGES TO RESTORE GLORY OF SATELLITE TOWN

… As Forum Backs Hitch-Free Delivery of Right of Way

The Honourable Commissioner for PhysicalPlanning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, has reiterated the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration to restore the glory of Satellite Town, which was characterised by well-laid-out environment devoid of setback encroachments.

Speaking at a meeting with the members of the Satellite Town Forum at Alausa, Ikeja on Tuesday, Salako explained that the removal of encroaching structures is the last step in the process of establishing the Right of Way, which is usually preceded by adequate notices through newspaper publications and stakeholder meetings, amongst others.

The Commissioner assured the forum of the determination of Governor Sanwo-Olu to complete the project, adding that the valuation of affected structures by the Lands Bureau for the payment of compensation will also precede the eventual removal of encumbering structures.

Salako gave an assurance that the project will be executed in a friendly manner, stressing that owners of structures on the Right of Way have been adequately informed, through published notices and stakeholder meetings, over the past two months.

Responding on behalf of the Satellite Town Forum, the Chairman, Mr. G. Emitini, pledged the support of residents for a hitch-free delivery of the Right of Way for a successful reconstruction of Buba Marwa and Navy Town Roads in Satellite Town.

He also denied opposition to the project by members of the forum, imploring all affected residents to prepare for movementout of the Right of Way so that the axis could ultimately reap the benefits of good connectivity.

Emitini appealed to the Ministry to be considerate during removal of structures on the Right of Way, suggesting that the State Government should also consider the payment of adequate compensation to owners of affected buildings.
